The Story Behind The SongThe Story Behind The Song

I was as big a ghoul as many other writers who based songs on lovely themes and melodies written many years ago by long departed composers. Here's a fact that's not well known: many of those long ago composers were, in a sense, the songwriters of their day and in many instances based their compositions on current folk tunes of their day.

Which is why Tschaikovsky for example, had so many sing-able, memorable melodies in his concertos and other works.

In this instance, creating the song "In The Moon Mist," I even used Godard's original introductory melody for the verse. The finished song had some interesting recordings including one I liked by the Pied Pipers.
